O: "King! I found the Lego-Batman constructions! Now we can build it! Mom, I found the constructions!"

Is This 100%?

The kids were helping me choose some bread at the bread store and I taught them to find the ones that say "100%". Now Odan is obsessed with making sure everything is 100%.

O: "Wait, mom! Is this 100%?"

(holding up a plastic utensil divider at Home Depot)

Cereal

O: "Mom, my brain wants cereal. I need some carbohydrates so give me some cereal."

Super Beautiful

O: "Hey! Do you want very beautiful to come into your ears?" (Listening to the beginning of the "Brave" soundtrack)

O: "It's going to be too beautiful when Brave sings. If you want super beautiful to come into your ears you go like this..." (puts his ear against the speaker)

M: "Odan, that's too close."

O: "Well, it's super beautiful!"

Odan is Going to Kindergarten

We called Odan into our bedroom one night and explained to him he had the option of going to Kindergarten when he turns five, or he can wait until he turns six since his birthday is so close to the deadline.

We explained we were going to pray about what would be the best thing for him, to which he eagerly explained,

O: "Jesus says it's okay for me to go to Kindergarten when I'm five."

My Legs Are Getting Tired

Odan is supposed to be going to sleep and he's "fallen out of bed" and informing us loudly...

O: "Hey dad! My legs are getting tired! They're going to fall asleep in two seconds! Two, one, zero, they're asleep! Now I can't get back in bed!"

I'm Getting Hungry

O: "I'm getting hungry."

M: "Do you want some carrots?"

O: "I'm not 'carrot' hungry, I'm 'banana' hungry!"

Something's Not Quite Right

O: "Mom, something is missing. Something's not quite right."

M: "What Odan?"

O: "Um, I think the bad guys are coming."

Pentaceratops

O: "How does Pentaceratops say 'goodbye'?"

M: "I don't know, what do you think?"

O: "Maybe like this?" (sounds like a dinosaur Scooby-do) "Goodbye!"

Give Me a Treat

O: "Mom, if you don't give me a treat right now I am going to kill you!"

Romance Novels

Odan loves books. At the library, at the store, if he sees a shelf full of books, he is drawn to them. He is always looking at the covers, checking out the pictures. The following conversation happened after we had just left Wal-Mart...

M: (to my husband) "So, Odan was totally checking out the covers on all the romance novels."

Husband laughs out loud.

Odan from the back seat,

O: "I'm awake! Stop laughing at me!"

A Short Way to 100

O: "I know a short way to count to 100. 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100."

M: "Good job Odan! You are so smart!"

O: "No I'm not, King just told me."

Is the Sun Nice?

O: "Is the sun nice?"

M: "Yes."

O: "Then why does it burn our eyes when we look at it?"

You're Going to Be Old

O: "When I'm an adult you're going to be old."

M: "You think I'll be old?"

O: "Yes. But I will still love you when you're old."

M: "Oh good. I will always love you Odan."

Scary Songs

D: "I don't want to listen to this song! It's too scary!" (Jurassic Park soundtrack)

O: "It's ok DeeAnn, the dinosaurs lived a long time ago, they died."

M: "Odan, the song is too scary for her."

O: "But it's okay DeeAnn! The song isn't going to come alive!"

Watching in Spanish

Starting the movie 'Tangled'...

O: "I want to watch it in Spanish! I don't want to understand it!"

Another When Odan is Angry

M: "Odan, don't step on my back! You'll break it!"

O: "I want to break it."

M: "But then I might die." (yes, I get dramatic when I'm tired)

O: "Then I will get a stranger girl to be my mommy."

First Testimony

After begging us for when it was his turn, Odan got up to bear his testimony in church for the first time. Afterward his uncle said this,

U: "Good job Odan, did you like doing that?"

O: "Did I look like a secret agent up there?"

U: "Yes!"

Superbowl

Watching an M&M commercial during the superbowl:

O: "A treat is singing!"

All throughout the night,

O: "Can you rewind it to the treat commercial? I want to watch the treat commercial!"
