Spring Break!!

I would love to marry you

O: "Mom, I would love to marry you, but I can't."

M: "I know."

O: "How come Jesus made the world like this?"

I hate chicken!

After being told what we were having for dinner...

O: "Chicken!?! I hate chicken! Chicken is annoying!"

A Good Collection

To his friend who came over with a ziploc baggy full of pinecones.

O: "Lucas - that's a good collection you have! It's a good one! Nice!"

The Way It Works

K: "Odan! You have to listen to mommy cause she's the parent!"

O: "Never!"

K: "Odan! That's just the way it works!"

I know what California is

O: " I know what California is. A fun state."

M: "It is?"

O: "Ya."

M: "How do you know?"

O: "Because. It has fun things in it."

My Brain is Angry

Odan was very angry and had calmed down. Then he steps on his brother...

K: "Hey! Don't step on me!"

M: "Odan! Don't step on your brother!"

By my tone he can hear I am disapproving and ready to discipline him, so he quickly explains,

O: "My brain is still angry! But my body isn't. My brain is just controlling me. My brain is just angry!"

I want to see some lava

I was outside digging in the flower bed when Odan kept asking me,

O: "When are you gonna get to the lava? I want to see some lava."

M: "What lava? What are you talking about?"

O: "I want to dig a hole to see the lava - under the ground."

M: "Oh! Odan, the lava is really really deep, you can't dig to it."

O: "Uh-huh! I will just dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, then go to sleep, then wake up and dig, dig, dig, dig, then go to sleep, then I will dig again and see the lava-"

(he gasps)

O: "Wait, how will I get out? I know, I will just climb up fast."

Guess how handsome I am?

O: "King! Guess how handsome I am? I am infinity-handsome!"

Little Women

Odan loves to watch tv. Anything and everything. On Sunday I got him to sit and watch "Little Women". Kendall pulled him away to feed the kids some lunch. Odan would come back periodically to check in, and I would encourage him to sit with me, while Kendall would encourage him to come finish his meal. At one point in my coercing efforts, I said the following,

M: "Odan! Come quick! Beth is sick!"

He runs into the room looking at the tv and exclaims,

O: "Again??"

Really the look on my husband's face was priceless - disbelief that not only was Odan watching this, he was fully comprehending what had been going on! Haha!

Ellen

O: "Mom, is Ellen in real life?"

M: "Yes."

Odan gasps in surprise,

O: "She is? Then how come we never go there? Is it because you need tickets and money?"

M: "Yep."

O: "Well I have a ticket and money. I have one dollar. I will find my dollar and ticket-wait, is it far away?"

(King walks in)

O: "King!! Ellen is in real life!! That place is in real-life! (pointing to the tv screen) Those things are in real-life! But you have to have a ticket."

(I so wish I could have gotten this one on camera, this was so cute in 'real-life'.)

Pretty Mountains

M: "Aren't the mountains pretty right there?"

O: "No. They are handsome to me."

Ward Dance

Our ward had a dance for ward conference weekend. At the dance Odan asked my friend excitedly,

O: "Do you like my dancing clothes?"

And after a couple of failed attempts at asking some 5 year old girls to dance and being turned down, he came over to me and said,

O: "Mom! No one will dance with me!"

While he was speaking, DeeAnn was attempting to take his hands and dance with him, to which I suggested,

M: "Odan, why don't you dance with DeeAnn? She wants to dance with you."

He quickly and sharply replied,

O: "I don't want to dance with a baby!"

Crossing Guard

(Told to me by some lovely ladies in Primary)

O: "I can't wait to be an adult, so then I can be a crossing guard!"

Mail

Odan received a letter from our cute neighbor girl (who happens to be in King's Kindergarten class as well)...

O: "Mom! Maile drawed me a heart! I think she loves me! Because I am cute."

Tiny Person

O: "I feel like there's a tiny person inside cutting me." (grabbing his belly)

M: "What??"

Odan laughs to himself,

O: "Nevermind!"

Library

Walking out of the library Odan was waiting for the automatic doors to close. I told him he needed to back up (he was standing in view of the sensor). He kept backing up slowly, slowly, waiting for the doors to close. Then a group of adults walked up and into the building. The doors finally closed and Odan exclaims,

O: "Mom! The library ate those people!"

Grass

Walking King home from school Odan looks down at the grass and I overhear him say accusingly,

O: "Grass! Where have you been??"

A Good Mom

O: "Mom, you are a good mom."

M: "Aw, thank you Odan!"

O: "Did Jesus learn you to be a good mom?"

M: "Yep."

O: "You are."

Let Me Go!

O: "Mom! Let me go!"

M: "Never!" (hugging him as tightly as I can, he is in a bad mood)

O: "Fine! Then I will push you off a cliff! And you will be gone forever!"

Kronk's New Groove

M: "Did you like the movie Odan?"

O: "Yes! I totally liked it!"

A few minutes later he comes into the kitchen while the credits were rolling,

O: "Mommy, do you hear that music?"

M: "Yep."

O: "It's making me dance!"

Flavors of Bananas

O: "Angelle, can I please have a banana?"

M: "Odan, we have bananas at home, can you wait till we get home?"

O: "No! I want to eat this banana!"

M: "Odan, they taste the same. A banana is a banana."

O: "No they don't taste the same!"

He ends up eating the banana at Angelle's house. With a mouthful he says to me,

O: "See! It doesn't taste the same!"

M: "What does it taste like?"

O: "Soup. Banana soup."
